Indigo Soltero Blanket

Indigo Soltero Blanket

Ikat stripes are masterfully tied into patterns representing corn to create this beautiful, bold indigo blanket. The cotton threads have been naturally dyed using ground indigo stone and handwoven on traditional Mayan backstrap looms. Each woman can only weave panels, or “lienzos”, as wide as her hips so this large blanket is made up of three panels that are connected using a “randa” hand-stitch. This blanket takes six days to make. Due to its handcrafted nature, each blanket varies slightly.

This blanket helps support ethical employment and provide education for the women and children of the Single Mothers Cooperative.
